Offering some insight into the process behind naming his latest child, Elon Musk detailed why he decided to name his child ‘X Æ A-12’. He also shared some of the other unused name candidates that didn’t make the cut.
“I mean, all of the letters are there,” Musk told the press late Tuesday evening. “We just have to wait for a bit more data so we can actually get something cohesive together.”
Despite giving his new baby such a strange name, all of Musk’s other children have conventional names. That didn’t stop Musk from coming up with other unconventional ideas for his latest, however.
“We almost went with Ass Man,” Musk told the press.
“Chevrolet Cavalier Z24 was a frontrunner also. One of my favorite cars ever, actually. X Æ A-12 was just too good to pass up, though.”
We are still uncertain of the child’s gender, but Musk tells us the A-12 portion of the newborn’s name is indeed a reference to the single seat, CIA-operated variant of the SR-71 Blackbird.
“Yeah that plane is sick. Why wouldn’t you name your kid after that?”
Musk told the press that ‘X Æ SR-71’ would’ve been a bit too cliche, which is why he and his girlfriend, Grimes, decided to go with A-12.
“The X Æ part was Grimes’ idea. Really it’s just sort of service to her that we included that. The kid is named after the plane.”
