ALTOONA, PENNSYLVANIA–Ever since purchasing a Mitsubishi Eclipse in high school, Uncle Steve has always remembered you like those ‘rice burner’ imports. Whenever there’s a video of a Japanese car in his ’57 Chevy Clone and Tributes’ Facebook group, he sends it to you.
“I D RATHER HAVE A CAR MADE WITH REAL AMERICAN STEEL,,,” he posts directly to your Facebook timeline, “BUT THIS THING LOOKS PRETTY GOOD FOR JAP PLASTIC!!!”
The clip consists of a vertical cell phone video of a new GR Supra parked at a Cars n’ Coffee event. The video–of horrendous quality from being downloaded, compressed, and reuploaded multiple times–consists of a man in his mid thirties doing a very small chirpy burnout in a former Sears parking lot.
“REMEMBER SEARS???? USED TO BE ABLE TO GET A DANG HOUSE AT SEARS!!!!!”
As you watch, Something feels vaguely familiar. Wait a minute…you’ve seen this video before. It was on YouTube nine months ago. You skip to the end just to make sure before commenting on the post, keenly aware that everyone on Facebook can see you.
“Thanks Uncle Steve. It looks nice but I can’t afford one! Haha.”
“I AGREE,,, SEE YOU GUYS AT CHRISTMAS!!!”
